The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

17June2014:  So...I didn't like the book until it ended. What I mean to say is that I wasn't interested in reading the book until the last paragraph, and then it was too late. When I finished the book all I could do was laugh because it was so on par with the book's theme: it ended just as I felt it was beginning. I'm pretty sure this is a unique opinion of the book. I read this book for book club (not my choice) and I just didn't want to read it. I thought it was going to be another typical love story about teenagers falling madly in love within a week of meeting each other and trying to conquer the world for one another. This is not that kind of book.

John Green has beautifully written the love story of Hazel and Augustus, both of whom has/had cancer. It's a tender story with a slight twist. Hazel doesn't want to hurt Augustus because of her cancer and Augustus doesn't want to hide his feelings because of his cancer. It's a cute story even though I don't care for it much. What I liked most was how it was written. The rapport between Hazel & Augustus was sweet but sometimes felt overdone with sarcasm. Overall I think it's a cute endearing book that I probably would've enjoyed more as a preteen, as a girl who's never been kissed.
