Known to Evil by Walter Mosley
Oh my goodness!!! I can never tire of Walter Mosley. The man is more than frikkin amazing!!! I borrowed this book from the library while I was there. I should have followed my instinct to purchase it at Barnes & Noble. I need this book in my life. I want to reread it immediately; not because I'm confused or didn't follow the book, but because it was just that awesome. There were plenty of times I wanted to highlight, underline, and earmark a phrase. The vocabulary Mosley uses to provide imagery for the reader is perfect. I felt like I was watching a movie instead of reading a book.
Leonid McGill is the main character. He's a private investigator in NYC and is investigating 2 cases simultaneously. Well he's actually investigating 1 case and helping his sons out of another situation. Both cases get him into a heap unfortunate circumstances. Never once, does Mosley make the reader feel overwhelmed because he manages to blend the 2 cases together seamlessly. The reader learns about Leonid and his past as he delves further into these investigations. Known to Evil is actually the second book in the Leonid McGill series but I never felt like I was missing something; or wished I'd read the first book beforehand.
I HIGHLY recommend this book ^_^
