Deadly Lies by Cynthia Eden

This book did keep me interested and I wanted to keep reading it.  Samantha Kennedy is an FBI agent recently back on the job after being a victim in a previous case.  She meets Max and thinks of him as a one night stand but fate has something else in store for them. Max and his family become victims in Samantha's first case back, a serial kidnapping case. They end up being forced together during the investigation and they learn about each other's past. Cynthia Eden's dialogue is good; it's quick paced and seems natural. In between some dialogue is the speaker's thoughts. If the reader isn't paying attention, he/she can definitely become lost and confused as to whose thoughts are being conveyed. That is one issue I had while reading this book. I felt at times that it was unnecessary to provide the speaker's thoughts because it was evident. Another issue I had were the "romantic" scenes. These scenes were too frequent for someone as mobile as me. It can be very uncomfortable to read about a woman inserting a male body part into her mouth during the morning rush hour train ride on the MTA. Cynthia Eden is very descriptive in these scenes, sometimes lasting 4 pages. Am I rushing to read another one of her books? No...but I would read another book of her's that someone's suggested. LOL

PS- I think this entry exemplifies aspects of my libra zodiac sign. ^_^
