Albatross by Josie Bloss

Albatross

I don't remember the books I read as a teenager being so annoying and transparent. Maybe because my teenaged years are well over a decade ago and I treasure new vocabulary and look for meaning beyond the surface. This book by Josie Bloss. Is definitely not for me. There was no climax or anything...but there was a plot of some sort. It came off more as a fable for teenagers. Tess, the main character is struggling with a move to a different city in a different state after her parents' divorce. Yeah...sure different situations/conflicts arose throughout the novel but there wasn't a climactic moment. The name of the book is intriguing but it's broken down very simplistically and doesn't give the reader a chance to feel intelligent for a while because he or she figured out the puzzle to the title of the book. Lol. Maybe it's just me, maybe I expected too much from a book that is written for someone ten years my junior. (gosh that makes me OLD). I'm not necessarily sure though. Isn't the Harry Potter series geared towards pre-teens? Isn't the Chronicles of Narnia written for elementary school children? I thoroughly enjoy those series so I don't get it. Oh well, it brings me closer to the end of challenges and if anything LOL
