Have a Hot Time, Hades! by Kate McMullan

This book was such a delightful read. Kate McMullan depicts Greek mythology in such an entertaining way you can't help but enjoy it even if it is meant for kids. It is a very quick read and the imagery is rich. In this book of the Myth-O-Mania series, McMullan tells the tale of how Hades ended up being the lord of the underworld. It is told from Hades' point of view and uses quirky vocabulary such as chicken-hearted, howdy, and gotcha. I had so much fun reading this book that a woman on the train stopped to tell me that she could tell I really liked the book because I was smiling the entire time. If that's not a sign of good, what is? How could a person not enjoy a book about a boy joining forces with his siblings to overthrow their father and subsequently fighting with his siblings for power??? I've always wanted to read about greek mythology but never thought it could be so entertaining. I most certainly will continue the series and tell all my friends, and maybe my younger cousins,  about it!
