*YAWN* This book isn't one I would recommend, not even to an actual young adult. I'm not sure if Amy Garvey was intentionally repetitive to make some points stand out but it annoyed me. Wren's boyfriend, Danny died during summer break. She has brought him back to life but he is a shell of the person he used to be. On top of college applications, she is dealing with the stress of his death and taking care of the new Danny. She is dealing with the new hot guy in school trying to get to know her. She is also dealing with trying to not further alienate her family and best friends.
Danny (resurrected) is attached to Wren and doesn't remember anything but his life with her. He is cold and doesn't have a heartbeat. Wren is unable to connect emotionally to him and Amy Garvey constantly reminds the reader that he is cold and stiff and that his kisses are cold and stiff and his eyes are cold and empty. I feel that was unnecessary...but that's just my opinion. *shrugs* I became genuinely interested in the book towards the end and was worried it would end with no resolution in an attempt to get the reader to continue the series. Thankfully that wasn't the case. It wasn't a bad book, I just wasn't invested in the characters. I think Garvey left too much to be desired and maybe that was her intention but I won't be continuing this series.
