Wicked by Gregory Maguire
I kept comparing this book to "confessions of an ugly stepsister" while reading it. Most likely because it was the last book I read and it was also by Gregory Maguire. This book was LONG; I felt the length of the book. There were many dull, drawn out parts of dialogue and description. The book is broken up into sections and those sections are broken up into chapters. The reader gains insight on the witches' point of view of the classic tale of Dorothy and the yellow brick road. As the adage goes, there are three sides to a story: the 2 people involved and the truth. Of course this is all fiction so there's no truth but Maguire characterizes the Witch in such a way that the reader can understand her actions against Dorothy. There are political themes, themes about love and family relationships. Yes the book chronicles the entire life of the Wicked Witch of the West, but the overall reward is worth forcing yourself through the boring parts of the book.

It's so funny because people make it seem like this book is amazing from end to freaking end. Like seriously. I'd like to read it just because but I'm glad to know that there's some boring shit in it.
