The Dew Breaker by Edwidge Danticat

29Oct2014: When I picked up this book to begin reading it, I hadn't the slightest idea what a dew breaker was. I was hoping I would find out while reading the book. This book was so atypical that by the third chapter I didn't know what to make of it but I knew I had to keep reading. Each chapter can be independent, disjointed from the following and preceding chapters but they're not. Danticat starts the book with a father and daughter on a road trip to deliver a sculpture. The chapter after that is about a man waiting for his visa so his wife can join him in the United States. The one after that is about a young nurse who financially supports her ailing parents in the Caribbean. This book is very well written and stimulating. The end of the book made my jaw drop. I knew immediately I was going to have reread it.
