This book is about the life a young girl named Mimi Castiglione. How she is transformed from a shy girl in a small town to the it girl in a fast paced city. Mimi and her two friends had dreams of being a famous pop group but when they audition in New York, Mimi is told they only want her. They change her while appearance and eventually she changes. Mimi gets new friends, new clothes, a new perspective on life.
As always in a book about the music industry, there were many betrayals. None were surprising to me. The book is dated because of the name brands mentioned and the popular spots frequented. The author mixes her characters with actual names in the music industry. She used to work for Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons so I wouldn't doubt that some of the plot lines stemmed from that experience. It wasn't a bad book but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
