19 December 2013: My gosh was this book slow! Somehow it seemed shorter than the others but that's probably because not much of note happened; well that's how I feel. Most of the book was politics and scheming in that manner. The characters in this book don't include all the characters from the previous books and introduces at least a half dozen new ones. Martin does explain in the end that he cut this book in half. He decided to discuss half the characters in an effort to shorten the book. It's already over 1,000 pages so imagine if he kept everything in one! System overload! Lol
I became real invested in the book towards the last third of it. Some serious claims and accusations are made and you wonder dubiously if they're true. I love Martin's writing in this series because he consistently blindsides me, like the Red Wedding in A Storm of Swords. It is difficult to further comment without giving away any spoilers. What I do hope is that the folks I want to die, die and the folks I want to live happily ever after, do. Lol
Book 5: A Dance with Dragons up next!!!
