Sweet Water by Christina Baker Kline

9 May 2014: I waited and waited for this book to get good and then it was over. Lol!

Cassandra has never known her mother's side of the family very well. Out of the blue her maternal grandfather's lawyer contacts her to tell her he left her 40 acres and a house. She is currently living in NYC but her mother is from a small town in Tennessee. She leaves her life and friends to meet her mother's family and is greeted with smiles from some and suspicion from others. Her grandmother, Clyde is short and abrupt with her but that's mostly due to the bitterness she held inside from her disloyal husband. The author tries to build a storyline around death and possible murder mystery but it doesn't quite work out. All the pieces are there but I don't feel it was put together well. The book has potential, it just didn't quite make it.
