So....this book took me FOREVER to read! However, that didn't take away from my experience reading it. At least I don't believe it did. The war is still happening and the politics of it are suffering for me. There are more new characters and the appendix of families and maps are VERY helpful for fluidity. Almost everyone has evolved from where they were when the war began with Ned Stark's death.
Daenerys' dragons are growing out of her control. She has so many suitors willing to do everything and and anything to become her husband. Jon Snow has difficulty settling into his new role as Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. He wants to do the right thing but he's unsure of himself and his decisions. Arya becomes more fierce and works on her skills. Bran embraces his role and what he believes he's destined to do for the realm. Cersei is still a vicious woman, for most of the book, believing she's above reproach and all others. Jamie becomes more human and earned a little piece of my heart. Tyrion stands up for himself and uses his words to get him out of all sorts of sticky situations.
All in all, this book is a great read. The last 100 pages changes EVERYTHING! I had to pause and recompose myself a couple of times. Book 6 - The Winds of Winter - needs to hurry up and get released. I can't imagine where else the story can go but there are so many stories left unfinished.
